IBM saw an opportunity to put its latest Smarter Buildings research into practice by turning its Smarter Cities Technology Centre in Dublin into a “Living Lab”. 2,500 sensors provide real-time data on heating and cooling systems, lighting, water and electricity meters, footfall and motion within the 35,500 sq ft building, enabling the creation of comprehensive energy usage models.
